The women are just regular women who have worked really hard to become capable of extraordinary things. It’s refreshing that all the characters are depicted as strong and talented in their own way. I love that in this book that there is no shame or stigma around the women wanting sex as much as the men and nobody thought anything of it, such a nice change. The characters are flawed, real people with real human emotions, they are working in stressful dangerous situations and actually become fatigued and a little bit irrational at times, which is nice to see. ![]() Buchman creates just enough detail around military/firefighting tactics that the story feels really authentic without it losing flow because of long winded explanations.
